My Dedication

My 35km walk is dedicated to my Son, Kye

I'm Walking 35km to Cure Mito in The Bloody Long Walk!

Our beautiful son Kye has a rare genetic condition categorised by what is called Leigh Disease with his specific variant being the ABAT gene. There has only been 15 reported cases of this variant world wide and Kye is the only one in Australia. Kye faces many challenges daily but he continues to show us his strength and determination.

Leigh disease affects his ability to create energy for all his cells and organs to thrive. This disease is a rare genetic condition that causes rapid deterioration of body functions. The average life expectancy for this condition is 2-3 years. There is no cure and we hope that one day there will be. We feel so helpless knowing what we know but we want to do something.

Please sponsor my walk to fund research into desperately needed treatments and cures for this devastating disease.
