I am walking 35km to cure mito

Doing it again… but differently this year 💚 15km Test Walk Done!

Today Donna and I did a test walk as we prepare for The Bloody Long Walk for the Mito Foundation.

We’ve both completed the full 35km for the past two years, and this will be my third year participating. Today we walked 15km to see how our bodies would respond, as we’re both navigating a few niggling health challenges at the moment.

The truth is, we could probably mentally push ourselves to complete the full 35km again… but I’m not sure that means we should.

One of the biggest lessons I continue learning is the difference between:
✨ pushing through
and
✨ listening to your body with wisdom.

So this year, rather than not showing up at all, I’ve decided to approach things differently.

I will participate.
I will support the charity.
And I will do what my body can safely handle this year without causing unnecessary damage that could set my recovery and progress backwards.

At the moment, I’m already seeing specialists and a surgeon regarding my knees, so over the next four weeks I’ll focus on recovery, strengthening and building as much stability and resilience as I can.

How far will I walk on the day?
Honestly, I’m not sure yet — and I’m okay with that.

Sometimes strength looks like pushing harder.
And sometimes strength looks like honouring where you are right now.

Either way, I’m proud to still be showing up for a cause that means so much 💚

I'm Walking 35km to Cure Mito in The Bloody Long Walk!

I'm walking 35km in The Bloody Long Walk to help Australians living with mitochondrial disease.

That’s 46,200 steps in one day!

I know I’ll cross the finish line exhausted and blistered, but that’s nothing compared to what people with mitochondrial disease (mito) go through every day of their lives.

Mito robs the body’s cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure. It can affect anyone at any age.

Please sponsor my walk to fund research into desperately needed treatments and cures for this devastating disease.

Every dollar will make a difference!

My 35km walk will be bloody tough, but with your support, I know I can do it.

THANK YOU!
