Marching for margs and mito!

I have only recently learnt about mitochondrial disease (mito) from my beautiful friend Cassie. Cassie's mother, grandmother and great grandmother have unfortunately all suffered from mito. Mito is a genetic disorder that significantly impacts the function of the most vital organs including; the brain, heart, liver, muscles, inner ears and eyes. Mito can be inherited or occur spontaneously and effects both children and adults.

Cassie’s family have been instrumental in advocating for people suffering from mito. Her uncle Sean is one of the founding directors and CEO of the mito foundation and her mum Rhonda has been a strong advocate for the use of IVF technology to help eradicate the disease. Cassie’s family volunteer every year at the Bloody Long Walk and this year we thought we would give it a crack!

Our team is walking the Bloody Long Walk on the 25th of August, 2024; along the beautiful Newcastle coastline. Our team “Marching for margs and mito” will be smashing out the 35kms followed by some cheeky margarita’s; all in the name of mito.  We would love you to join our team or support our cause!
