I’m walking 35km in honour of my beautiful nephew Roman, who lost his fight to mitochondrial disease at just 8 weeks old.Mitochondrial disease robbed Roman of his life and continues to affect the lives of many others.
This devastating condition impairs the function of the mitochondria, which is responsible for producing vital energy. Without sufficient energy, organ dysfunction and failure occur, leading to fatal outcomes.
