I'm Walking 35km to Cure Mito in The Bloody Long Walk!
I'm walking 35km in The Bloody Long Walk to help Australians living with mitochondrial disease.
In January this year, we lost our truly incredible father, Luke, to Mito. Having battled in recent years and overcome stage 4 cancer it was ultimately the Mito which he couldn’t fight against any longer. He lived with it for a long period of his adult life, and was only diagnosed about 14 years ago. While testing for Mito has improved significantly in that time, there is so much work still to be done on finding treatments and maybe one day a cure.
I know I’ll cross the finish line exhausted and blistered, but that’s nothing compared to what people with mitochondrial disease (mito) go through every day of their lives.
Mito robs the body’s cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure. It can affect anyone at any age.
