I'm Walking 35km to Cure Mito in The Bloody Long Walk!
A friend roped me into this one and I thought, why not? I just turned 35, and it felt like the right time to jump on the bandwagon of doing some kind of “big run/health challenge.” I figured I’d ease into it though… so instead of a marathon, 10km run or Hyrox, I’m starting with a very long walk: 35km in one day.
That’s 46,200 steps and with my current collection of injuries, it’s going to be fun. But honestly, that’s nothing compared to what people with mitochondrial disease (mito) go through every day.
Mito robs the body’s cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure. It can affect anyone, at any age. There’s no cure yet, but research is underway and that’s what this walk helps fund.
Please consider sponsoring my walk. Every dollar goes towards funding research into desperately needed treatments and cures.
I know I’ll finish exhausted, blistered, and probably questioning my life choices but with your support, I’ll get there.
Thank you!
