BLW 2025 Done! Thank yous and final thoughts

It certainly was a Bloody Long Walk. Weather turned and we really enjoyed a cool, dry and quite sunny day walking in some of Sunshine Coast’s quiet suburbs and amazing beaches.

Last 5km were really hard, my legs started aching and my feet were really sore. I thought about slowing down, taking a long break, but never quitting! I really couldn’t. The atmosphere was great, with loads of walkers giving encouragement, people cheering along the way, lots of smiles and such a positive vibe. Also, the thought of how hard people with Mitochondrial Disease have it every day and how this effort will really help them raise funds and awareness to make their lives better and hopefully one day find more effective therapies and ways to heal and cure it. So even though I slowed down a bit, I pushed through and made it to the finish line.

A BIG thank you to all the organisers and volunteers that made this event happen, thank you to all the amazing people that participated and helped create a human wave of positivity and encouragement, thanks to my friends for all your support, donations and cheers before, during and after the day, and last but not least, my beautiful family for supporting my training, performance and recovery. My love goes to all of you <3>

I’ll see you next in 2026 if I’m in good shape to participate, if not, you’ll see cheering and supporting all of you from the sidelines.

All the best and see you soon!

Only 3 days to go!

I’m so excited to do my first Bloody Long  Walk. I’ve done the Seven Bridges Walk in Sydney previously, amazing 28 km walk around Sydney Harbour, highly recommend this one if you live in Sydney and enjoy walking challenges and have a passion for raising funds and awareness for great causes, but it’s been more than a decade since the last one (October 2014 – wow! Time flies!).

It’s been a tough journey with lots of lonely hours in the sun with the heat, thirst, hunger, aches, also lots of walks in the rain with wet shoes that get heavy and the wet socks with unwelcomed extra friction in the feet and toes. But none of that has undermined my resolve, if anything I believe I’m actually coming out stronger on the other end of this, and actually really getting bitten by that adventure-challenge bug that had been away for quite some time. This is definitely not the last one for me.

I’ve enjoyed listening to some of the good old music I hadn’t listened to in a long time, listening to some really entertaining podcasts, and sometimes just having that time go into some of those inner conversations that you only get when you’re in that flow state, so the pain with every step and the thoughts of how long there is to go, really just go away, and it’s just me, myself and my inner voice.

I’m feeling prepared, excited and most of all, very thankful for all the support from my family and my dear friends. Stay tuned and please follow my journey on Strava or Instagram.

Mates walking in Gold Coast

Team AddWorth finally got together in person to do a training walk in preparation for The Bloody Long Walk – Sunshine Coast on 1st June – Yes! Next Sunday!!!

We’re so pumped to be a part of this event. We got together and walked 16 km in the beautiful Queensland sun with amazing Gold Coast shoreline sights and great company.

We had a chance to catch up on current events, recent and old news, life… Lots of laughs, great conversations and overall had a great time.

We can’t wait for next Sunday. Preparing for The Bloody Long Walk has brought us closer as friends and made us realise we have great friends that care and support us and the causes that are close to our hearts.

This whole journey has helped us better understand Mito and how it affects people, but also helped us realise how much more there is to do in terms of research to improve tests and therapies, and new technologies to help better the lives of people living with Mito.

Thanks to all the amazing people that donated to the Mito Foundation and everyone that have sent messages of support, started conversations about Mito and shared some personal experiences. Thank you all.

Stay tuned for Sunday and follow us on Strava or Instagram if you’d like to know more about this adventure.

18 days to go!

Feeling really pumped and looking forward to this challenge. There's been some really long lonely times, aches, headaches, blisters... But it's nothing compared to what people with Mito have to deal with on a daily basis.

It's been very wet lately, feels like it's been raining in the Sunshine Coast everyday for the past few weeks (a lovely day in the UK, as my British friends would say!), but it doesn't stop me from putting the steps in to train for the day, raise awareness about Mito and how much more can be done in terms of research in new drugs and therapies.

Thank you all for your cheers, words of wisdom, encouragement and your donations! We're almost there.

Thank you and meet you at the finish line!

I'm Walking 35km to Cure Mito in The Bloody Long Walk!

I'm walking 35km in The Bloody Long Walk to help Australians living with mitochondrial disease.

That’s 46,200 steps in one day!

I know I’ll cross the finish line exhausted and blistered, but that’s nothing compared to what people with mitochondrial disease (mito) go through every day of their lives.

Mito robs the body’s cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure. It can affect anyone at any age.

Please sponsor my walk to fund research into desperately needed treatments and cures for this devastating disease.

Every dollar will make a difference!

My 35km walk will be bloody tough, but with your support, I know I can do it.

THANK YOU!
